My sister from CA attended a wedding in San Francisco this past weekend. Lucky for me she decided to incorporate the wedding trip with a trip to visit me!
She arrived on Sunday evening and Monday we started to show her around a little. First we took her to Smith Rock Park where we hiked along one of the trails.
The geese babies (goslings) are out in force!
There were also tons of climbers on the rocks. You'll probably have to click on the pictures to be able to see them.
It may not look like it here but there are climbers in each of these pictures.
You have to look closely to see them.
I've had a picture similar to this one before when I wrote about visiting Smith Rock State Park. I just love this balancing rock. It looks so cool.
After visiting Smith Rock State Park we went to the Crooked River Canyon Gorge. My husband and I had been here once before but I didn't have my camera with me at the time.
There is a park there named the Peter Skene Ogden Park. Yes, he is the Ogden that Ogden, Utah is named for.
The first thing visitors see in the parking lot are these signs.
It's not really funny but it kinda is. Take a closer look. "Put your dog back in the vehicle!"
And then you finally get to the gorge. This is the new bridge.
The plaque explaining the new bridge.
This is the new bridge next to the old bridge (old is in the foreground). It's 300' down to the Crooked River. That's a football field long!
This is the railroad bridge.
And finally this was on the old road over the old bridge. Here's the link to the Wikipedia entry about Blue Star Memorial Highways.
More tomorrow. :-)

What a wonderful visit! Thanks for showing me around the beautiful countryside. Don't forget to blog about the macarons and the solar guy who was(practically)drooling over them.
