This And That

This week has been a busy one for me. I've been working in the yard and garden. I'm trying to get a few things done before we hit our projected temperature of 108° this coming Sunday!

Our gopher wars are continuing. Last week neighbor Dean shot and killed what we are calling the granddaddy of the gophers. That thing was huge! Then this weekend I managed to catch an equally large female in one of my traps.

We're calling this one the grandmother of the gophers. Look how big she is compared to my hands. And I have big "man hands" (remember that Seinfeld episode?).
The gophers have slowed down but they are still out there. And we are still after them.

Here is my little game I keep out on the table where we sit out back. It took me a while to see this but I knew something wasn't "right".

It's some kind of worm. Did it think this was a computer? (Bad joke.)

At the same stand where we picked up the delicious strawberries (not a bad one in the bunch, btw) we also found this potted Bing cherry tree. I've since planted it in its' predecessor's spot.
Tuesday I rented a lawn aerator and did our entire grounds, the front, back, "pasture", and the far back area between the ponds and the back fence. It only took about two hours and although it wasn't easy it was not as hard as I thought it would be. Today I spread weed and feed. Saturday I will overseed the middle yard with a pasture mix, mow everything and start watering the heck out of it all. Hopefully it won't take too long to grow and the animals will have some decent forage for a change.

I have a feeling we'll be spending most of Sunday inside!

Ick...the teeth and nails on that gopher are gross and look mighty dangerous. Good luck with the war.

108...my goodness. We're struggling to stay in the 70's.

Have a great weekend!
