Wil's News, Part II

You all pretty much guessed correctly about Wil's second item of news. And that is that he went yesterday morning to Fresno to speak with a United States Coast Guard recruiter (they don't have an office in Bakersfield). Unfortunately, even though I reminded them numerous times they (dad and son) failed to take a photo of Wil standing in front of the office.

In any case, there were three others there and they all watched a couple of videos about becoming and being a "coastie". So now Wil has to take an ASVAB (Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery) test. He'll do that here in town next week. He could have taken it in school, but I don't really know why he didn't at the time. It may be just as well because now he can study a little and hopefully get a good score, which will help later to get him a more desirable job.

He's even mentioned signing up for six years instead of four, in able to skip a grade and start earning a little more sooner. Way to go! Obviously I'll keep you posted on what happens next.

And speaking of next... Here's a couple of clues about the third item of news in the series of "Wil's News".

The first is a letter Wil received last week. As you can see it is from Congressman Kevin McCarthy. It seems Wil's school (amongst others) are spelling his name wrong. Oh well.

For this occasion Wil wanted a new suit so I gave him $300 from my not-so-secret-cash-stash and this is what he came home with. New shirt, jacket, trousers, tie, shoes, and even dress socks! All I have to say is WOW!

This particular occasion will occur on Saturday, May 16. The news is already good but maybe we may find out that it's even better!

  1. Wil is a High School Graduate (Yay!)
  2. He is on his way to joining the U.S. Coast Guard
  3. ??

Stay tuned!

Ok, that is too far away I will need another clue! I couldn't enlarge the envelope, my first guess would be: He is running for State Senate??

Sorry, the pictures aren't enlarging when you click on them. I don't know why sometimes they do, sometimes they don't. But the clue you need is not in that picture of the envelope anyway. The information can be found in the congressman's website (click on his name). If you are patient you will see what you need to see!

I'm back! I looked through the congressman's website, the only thing I was finding is maybe a
MOM? BUT then I found out that the symphony is playing at 8pm at Rabobank Arena, is Wil performing??

Last clue until May 16th: Check the videos. Other than that I'm not saying anything else. ☺

Yes, Patti, you found it! Sorry I didn't answer sooner. We went to Dean's boat Friday afternoon and came home Saturday afternoon. More on that later.
