HAPPY FATHER'S DAY

Happy Father's Day to everyone. I hope you all have a good and happy day and you get to do what you want, even if it's just vegging out.

When I got married we had the rehearsal and everything went fine until my dad was supposed to lift my veil and kiss me "goodbye". He forgot. So we rehearsed again and he did it. At the real wedding, guess what? He forgot! I was torn between yelling at him to come back and kiss me or just drop it. (He was a little deaf and I didn't want to have to yell too loudly!) I let it go.

On the night before he passed away he and my mom got a wild hair to drive around town and visit all the kids. They stopped by the duplex we were living in at the time. When I opened the door they said "Surprise!" I invited them in but they said no, they were just driving around and wanted to stop by and say hi and that was it. I was a little puzzled but said, okay. Just as they were getting ready to turn and walk away something told me to go and hug my dad. I didn't do it and I've regretted it ever since. My mom called at 6:00 the next morning and said he'd had a massive heart attack. We all went to the hospital but it was too late. This was just four months after I got married.

Give your dad a hug today. Don't let it be too late!

Here's a few of my favorite pictures of my dad.

Here's a picture from earlier in his military career. He retired as a Chief Warrant Officer II. (I think... Somebody correct me if I'm wrong.)

This was when he brought Mikki home.

This was hiking in the mountains. My parents used to like to take day trips to visit the State Parks and explore.

This is the last picture I took of my dad. It was in the front yard of their house.

There are two Biblical verses that come to mind regarding parents:
Exodus 20:12
"Honor your father and your mother, so that you may live long in the land the LORD your God is giving you.

Deuteronomy 5:16
"Honor your father and your mother, as the LORD your God has commanded you, so that you may live long and that it may go well with you in the land the LORD your God is giving you.
Deuteronomy 5:15-17 (in Context) Deuteronomy 5 (Whole Chapter)

You have honored your father today!
