Roberta, the blogger from Life at a Boarding Stable, tried unsuccessfully to leave a comment on the maroon wildflower from Tuesday's blog pictures. You know, the maroon wildflower that I didn't know what it's name was. She suggested it might be a California Jewel Flower (caulanthus californicus), and I think she may be right. At least the photos look very similar. I blew my picture up so I could see a little more detail.![](https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgzSbEYeUKFQ6xwD-VC2WykS5CWUgQ1bKzz94etIAbDHYZJ9Q0pQb0H4wDoRwuJthSqFrg9aqdyVQXHqAz0yDeIP1SwTNmdHDWycH0nVzL3I3UQrmUl280l6D3qmzGMrOJoi7euYd08eNUM/s400/Rancheria+3+30+08.jpg)

Click here and you can see a picture from an "official" website. If mine isn't a California Jewel Flower then it most certainly is in the same family.
Thanks, Roberta, for the info! I think it's pretty cool how we bloggers and our readers keep each other informed, regardless of the subject.
